OAKVILLE, ON (October 4, 2025) – The Oakville Blades battled hard Friday night at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex but came up just short in overtime against the Newmarket Hurricanes, falling 3–2 in a tightly contested matchup.

The Blades opened the scoring early in the first period when Ross buried his fourth of the season, assisted by Hobbs and Brooks. Newmarket answered midway through the frame, and both teams went into the intermission tied 1–1. In the second period, McMahon notched his first goal of the year, with helpers from Nettleton and Tsiapalis, giving Oakville the lead heading into the final frame.

Despite a strong effort, Newmarket tied it late in the third and then secured the win just under two minutes into overtime. Goaltender Alex Armellin was outstanding, turning aside 39 of 42 shots to keep the Blades in the game. Oakville outworked their opponent through seven power plays but couldn’t convert despite creating several quality chances.
