On Friday, August 22, 2025, the Oakville Blades skated to a 3–1 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Sabres at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, backed by strong goaltending and timely scoring. The win showcased Oakville’s depth and resilience as they outlasted a Buffalo team that poured on the pressure with 50 shots on goal.

The first period was a defensive battle with no scoring, though Buffalo’s Gregoire was assessed a late slashing penalty. Both teams settled in, with Oakville’s goaltenders setting the tone early by shutting down several dangerous chances.

The second period brought the game to life. Oakville opened the scoring at 10:15 when Aiden Dicaro netted his first of the pre-season, assisted by Cooper Woron and Brady Charlton. Just 27 seconds later, the Blades struck again as Ross capitalized on a setup from LeConte and Austin to quickly extend the lead to 2–0. Buffalo responded at 13:03 on the power play when Joy broke through to cut the deficit in half. Penalties were frequent throughout the frame, but Oakville’s penalty kill held strong, leaving the Blades ahead 2–1 heading into the third.

In the final period, Buffalo pressed hard, outshooting Oakville 19–9, but the Blades’ goaltending tandem of Armellin and Christensen stood tall. Armellin was flawless in his half, stopping all 26 shots he faced, while Christensen made 23 saves on 24 attempts to close out the game. Oakville sealed the win late when Brooks scored into the empty net at 17:25, assisted by Austin and Ross, securing the 3–1 final.

Despite being outshot more than two-to-one, Oakville’s efficient offence and rock-solid goaltending made the difference. With contributions spread across the roster and the netminders turning aside 49 of 50 shots, the Blades earned a hard-fought home victory and valuable momentum moving forward.
