The Oakville Blades are proud to share the success of this past weekend’s Matt Simpson Memorial Game, a heartfelt evening dedicated to remembering a beloved member of our Blades family.
Matt Simpson, who served as the team’s longtime timekeeper, was more than just a part of the game operations—he was a friend, supporter, and true fan of the sport. His passion for hockey and his positive spirit had a lasting effect on our players, staff, and the entire community.
With Matt’s memory shining over Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, the Blades earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Niagara Falls Canucks. It was an appropriate remembrance of a man whose influence will endure in our rink forever.
Thanks to the generosity of our fans, families, and supporters, we are thrilled to announce that $590 was raised in Matt’s honour for Erin Oak Kids, an organization that Matt cared deeply about. This donation will help continue the incredible work they do to support children and families in our community.
The Oakville Blades would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this special night possible—from our dedicated volunteers, billet families, and game-day staff to our sponsors, fans, and the entire Oakville community. Your support ensured that Matt’s legacy was celebrated in the way he truly deserved.
Matt Simpson will forever remain part of the Blades family. His memory lives on in every game, every cheer, and every moment we come together as a community.
Thank you, Oakville, for helping us celebrate Matt’s life and for making this event a true success.
